Light in The Woods
The Woods is the second collaboration between the Norwegian design studio StokkeAustad and the designer Andreas Engesvik, living and working in Oslo. This series of small glass objects is inspired by the forests and the peculiar luminosity of the Nordic countries, the fascinating process of changing the colors of the leaves throughout the seasons and the transparency of light through the trees.
These objects have no other ambition than a purely decorative function. The creators, following their renewed interest in the field of art and traditions, wished for this cooperation to reduce the gap between the production of industrial design and craftsmanship.
Each sculpture is unique, handmade in blown glass. It consists of seven trees, joined in two distinct parts. The designers here sign an object full of lightness of great poetry.
The Woods was presented for the first time at the Designgalleriet at the Stockholm Design Week in February 2013
