Athena Paginton : make-up as a medium of values
From illustrations to graffiti painted on walls, Athena Paginton re-enacts these artistic and activist techniques and reinjects them into her practice as a makeup artist. Her creative ideas take the form of 2D creations, where the lines of human faces become the living, moving canvas of dreamy rainbows or blocks of color.
Originally from Oxfordshire, in the South East of England, makeup artist and illustrator Athena Paginton moved to London at the age of 18. She then started working in the fashion world, with clients such as Alexander McQueen, Dior or Balenciaga. Her activist commitments, whether for LGBQTQ+ communities, climate change, mental health or animal rights, enrich each of her projects.
