Victor Cadène’s wonderland

In his compositions of coloured papers, Victor Cadène unveils scenes directly inspired by baroque painting, the Nabi movement or the paper cut-outs of Henri Matisse. Passionate about decorative arts, he develops a rich and varied iconography in which bodies, natural elements and objects cohabit according to a well worked choreography. A talented colourist, he draws, paints and colors each of the cut-out pieces before assembling them into object paintings. Responding to a meticulous sense of harmony, the patterns and textures used evoke joyful theatrical settings where symbols are omnipresent. This self-taught artist works with numerous brands in the world of lifestyle such as Diptyque, Maison Thévenon and more recently Mériguet-Carrère. Whether he is designing shop windows, wallpaper patterns or carpets, Victor Cadène puts himself at the service of creation to create figurative, sometimes abstract, interior scenes and tell as many stories to those who want to listen.
