Shayna Leib's aquatic glassworks

Shayna Leib is a young American artist who works mainly with glass. Shayna Leib grew up on the Californian coast and developed a fascination for the ocean environment. Alongside Russian literature, piano and philosophy, she studied glass blowing in California and graduated in 2003.

Passionate about diving, her paintings from the Wind and water series are inspired by the underwater world. Her pieces are an assembly of thin pieces of glass and take about a month to be created. They reproduce the movements of underwater plants – anemones, corals, etc. – with striking realism. A brief moment is captured, as stopped in time and frozen in the glass.
Shayna Leib is regularly exhibited in the United States.
